The year is 2021. It's been 23 years since the Battle of Hogwarts, since the day the Boy Who Lived triumphed over the Dark Lord, and since that day the magical world has been at peace. But it's been an uneasy and fragile peace. The decisive victory of the Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore's Army over the Death Eaters in 1998 hasn't translated into a decisive victory in the cultural conflict that sparked the war, though several important advances have been made. Kingsley Shacklebolt succeeded Pius Thicknesse as Minister of Magic and brought reform to the Ministry, including a new embrace of Muggle culture and technology. Under Shacklebolt's leadership, the Ministry has overseen the development of a magical subdivision of the internet concealed from Muggle view, and as a result it has become more and more common to see wixen using computers and, in more recent years, smartphones and other smart devices. Change has come to Hogwarts as well. During her time as Headmistress, Minerva McGonagall presided over a relaxation of the school's policy toward Muggle technology, first overseeing the creation of a computer lab in the early 2000s that was to be used for strictly educational purposes, no small feat in a school that previously relied on quills rather than pens for writing. Over time school policies have been further relaxed to allow student use of personal computers and smart technology, though such technology is still firmly banned from classrooms during teaching time unless specifically authorized by the professor. Meanwhile, the number of Pureblood wixen has continued to decline while the number of Muggleborns has increased, accompanied by a renewed push for the full integration of other peaceful species into magical society. Some have hailed these developments as positive for magical society, while others -- and not just Purebloods -- worry that change is happening too rapidly and is straining the limits of social order. These advances have given rise to political backlash in the form of the Society for the Preservation of Wixen Heritage, a socially conservative advocacy organization dominated by Purebloods that demands respect for magical traditions and advocates a return to the old ways of magical living. There has also been violent backlash, particularly in the 2010s, with a rise in the murder rate of Muggleborns, Squibs, Muggles related to Muggleborn and Halfblood families, and other species. Many of these murders have gone unsolved, leading to backlash from universal rights activists and unease in magical society at large that these attacks may be coordinated rather than isolated incidents. Unbeknownst to most of magical society, the attacks are being coordinated by a terrorist group known as Morsmordre, which uses the SPWH as a public front for their seemingly benign political and social activities. These attacks have also led to the recent formation of another secret group known as the Silver Spears, a vigilante group masquerading as a private duelling club aimed at protecting wixen and other peaceful magical species and exacting retribution against the criminals who would harm them. The Order of the Phoenix has also been revived to protect all sectors of magical society and to combat extremism on both sides of the spectrum in hopes of averting a Third Wixen War. Now, following the retirement of Shacklebolt and McGonagall, change has come to both the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. The Ministry is led by Ernie Macmillan, who has won the tentative support of the Pureblood community with promises of slowing the pace of change, but has yet to bring any of Shacklebolt's reforms to a definitive halt. Hermione Granger has been selected as the new Headmistress of Hogwarts, having previously worked as a professor at the school, and the selection of a Muggleborn to administer Hogwarts has riled blood purists and even some moderates who believe this radical a change will just further aggravate social tensions. With the recent death of the beloved Harry Potter, Boy Who Lived, a Third Wixen War is all but inevitable. Will you join the Order of the Phoenix and do what you can to prevent it, cast your lot with Morsmordre or the Silver Spears, or remain neutral and hope the rising conflict won't reach your doorstep? The choice is yours, and the fate of the magical world may hang in the balance.
